The importance of the e-Customs technology
Modern times have seen the development of economic integration between countries and a rapid increase in the flows of imported and exported goods – in the context of these events the activity of the customs authorities is extremely important as a way of ensuring state sovereignty and economic security. In many developed and developing countries the taxes collected through customs form a large part of the state budget. The amount of these taxes is directly dependant on border permeability, which encompasses everything from promptly collecting required documents and permits and processing customs declarations to ensuring an undisrupted process of customs clearance and control of goods that have left the territory of the customs authority.
Having taken into account the importance of these processes, customs authorities in many countries moved from paper to electronic document management and are implementing systems based on the single window principle for providing information concerning permits and the processing of other customs documents. Customs authorities are transitioning to automated customs management systems – e-Customs.
Since 2006, InnoForce Group experts have actively participated in the development of e-Customs projects in Lithuania, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. The experience that professionals working for the company have gathered was used to create different e-Customs information systems and individual subsystems.
Subsystems for processing and controlling customs declarations, risk management, automated control of calculation and collection of taxes and duties, correcting declarations after customs clearance, calculation and collection of debt and other functions have been developed. Our expertise encompasses the application of requirements set out in individual national, European Union and Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) customs laws.
